Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

on May 9, 2012

Today I met up with some other students from our NAVTA group for our outing. We went to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs. I’ve heard about it before but never been, so this was exciting for me!

We got a few little “behind the scenes” tours, of the “beetle room” eww gross! (and stinky!) and of one of the tigers and a quick talk with his handler, and of the food commissary for all the animals.

Aside from that we walked around in our own little groups and saw what we wanted to, and also got to feed giraffes!!! That was one of the best parts! Their tongues are sandpapery and their teeth are rough like horses.

    Zoo pictures! cool.

Tigers. I love tigers, they are so pretty.
    A moose!!
    Cougars are prowling.
    A beaver!
hippo’s. I like hippos, too. One of my favorite, fun Christmas songs is: “I want a hippopotamus for Christmas”
Giraffes! Their tongues are sand-papery…like a cat’s tongue expanded five times. They are slobbery, too. The Wild Animal Park close to my in-laws used to let the guests feed the giraffes. They took that availability away a year or so ago…I have no need to go visit anymore.

  2. Looks like a cool place to visit!
