Switching isn’t always Saving

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens. All opinions are 100% mine.

Do you like having the ability to go to your Walgreens pharmacy 24 hours a day?

How about that personal interaction you have with your Pharmacist?

And of course how about those low low prices on your prescriptions?

What if all that was taken away from you suddenly?

Members under Express Scripts feel the pain of all that being ripped off like a band-aid. As of January 1, 2012 they can no longer go to Walgreens as part of their in-network pharmacy.

Walgreens and Express Scripts

Walgreens has tried negotiating with Express Scripts for the last year to continue their contract to no avail. They even offered to continue their rate plan with no increase. Express scripts even states that their customers WON’T save any money by moving to another pharmacy. Especially since some pharmacies use less generic’s and only prescribe 30 day supplies instead of discounted 90 day supplies.

This isn’t just affecting the everyday person, Express Scripts major insurance carrier is Tricare, which supplies Military members and their family with coverage.

Walgreens wants to keep their customers, and keep them happy. So they are offering a discount on their Prescription Savings Club at Walgreens through January. Customers can pay $5 for individual or $10 for a family membership. Even if you aren’t affected by this change, you can still take advantage of this discount!

I’ve seen lots of buzz on Walgreens on Twitter from citizens proclaiming their thanks to Walgreens for offering this discounted program.

You can also head over to Walgreens on Facebook to see what everyone else is saying.
